You Have a Purpose

“No matter what life throws at you, you’re breathing right now for a reason. And even when things look like they’re at their worst, God’s love for you is beyond your wildest imagination.

He wants what is best for you-not merely in this temporary world but for all eternity. And for this reason He sent His Son, Jesus, to show us His heart and teach us a better way to live.

Jesus fed the hungry, healed the sick, and loved the outcasts of society. And even though He never did anything wrong, the religious leaders of His time arrested Him, tortured Him, and killed Him like a common criminal-nailing Him to a wooden cross.

But death could not hold Him. Three days later, God’s Holy Spirit came to Jesus’ lifeless body and restored Him back to full, victorious life! The living Jesus appeared to His followers many times over 40 days and then ascended into heaven. There He was given all heavenly and earthly authority, seated on a throne at Father God’s right hand.

And here’s where you come in: The death Jesus died is the death we all deserve. We’ve all done wrong. We’ve all broken God’s commands. But when Jesus died on that cross, the Bible says He took all our sin into His body so that it too could be put to death. When we trust His sacrifice, all our sin is forgiven and conquered. It’s as though we died with him and are now free from the lives we have always lived.

Then, the same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead comes to live inside of us, making us new creations-people who never existed before. Our old life is gone, and we receive a new life from God that empowers us to show His love to the world just like Jesus did. Soon we too begin to feed the hungry, heal the sick, and love those who need Him most. People begin to encounter the living God through our love.

And if that weren’t enough, the Bible says we who trust Jesus have been raised up with Him and also seated with Him in the heavenly realms. That means Jesus’ victory becomes our victory. His authority becomes our authority. His mission becomes our mission. And we become His representatives here in the earth.

If you want to step into your purpose and be who you were always created to be, you can’t achieve it by your own good works. There’s nothing you can do to prove your value to God. He already sees your value. That’s why He sent Jesus, and it’s why you’re reading this right now. All He asks is that you consider your old way of living to be dead. Receive His forgiveness for living in your own strength, and invite His Spirit to dwell in you and live through you. He will empower you to show His love to the world. You can receive Him right now. Just ask.”

Andrew’s Testimony as a Teenager

In my teenage years I thought of myself as being “a good Christian kid,” but underneath my outward charm and “goodness,” I felt that what I had wasn’t enough for me…

What is the gospel?

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NLT)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, NLT)

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” (Romans 10:9–10, NLT)

When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away.

Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.” (Colossians 2:11–15, NLT)
